Arrival, Tardy, and Late Pick-Up Procedures

Every instructional minute matters. Arriving on time helps students begin calmly, connect with their
class, and be ready to learn.

Start the day ready to launch!

• Campus supervision begins: 7:50 a.m.
• Teachers pick up students: 8:00 a.m.
• Instruction begins: 8:05 a.m.

Morning Arrival

Students may arrive on campus beginning at 7:50 a.m. when school supervision begins. Students may go
to the designated playground area or the cafeteria. Students should arrive with enough time to eat
breakfast, settle in, and meet their teacher at the 8:00 a.m. warning bell.

Please do not drop students off before 7:50 a.m. If a child is on campus before supervision begins, the
child will be taken to the office and the family will be contacted.

If Your Child Arrives After 8:05 a.m.

Students arriving after 8:05 a.m. are considered tardy and must check in through the front office before
going to class.

1. Enter Through the Main Entrance. For campus safety, late students must enter through the main front entrance and check in at the office. Students arriving late should not enter through classroom or side doors.
2. Check In at the Front Office - A parent or guardian should accompany the student to the office when possible. The office will record the arrival time and confirm that the student is safely on campus.
3. Receive a Tardy Pass - The office will provide a tardy pass. The student should take the pass directly to the classroom teacher so attendance can be updated accurately.
4. Share the Reason and Documentation - Please tell the office if the tardy is connected to a medical appointment, illness, family emergency, religious commitment, diagnostic testing, or another documented reason. Documentation may be brought to the office or faxed to (505) 299-5311.

Attendance Support

Regular attendance and punctuality support academic growth, belonging, and a successful start to each
school day. When a pattern of tardies or early dismissals develops, Inez staff will work with the family to
understand barriers and identify solutions.

• The classroom teacher will contact the family and document the communication in Synergy.
• Attendance concerns will be shared with the attendance clerk, counselor, and principal.
• A Health & Wellness meeting or attendance support plan may be scheduled when additional support is needed.
• Whenever possible, families should schedule appointments outside of instructional hours.

learning.
We partner with families to remove barriers and strengthen on-time attendance.

Helping Your Child Start Successfully

Even when the morning does not go as planned, a calm and encouraging goodbye can make a meaningful
difference. A positive transition helps students settle into classroom routines more quickly and confidently.

Late Pick-Up Procedures

Inez dismisses at 3:35 p.m. Students must be picked up or have approved after-school arrangements
within 10 minutes of dismissal.

• If you anticipate being late, call the front office at (505) 299-9010 as soon as possible.
• Students who have not been picked up by 3:45 p.m. will be taken to the front office. Office staff will contact parents/guardians and emergency contacts.
• Families are responsible for maintaining current contact information and a reliable backup transportation plan.
• If no authorized adult can be reached and a student remains after 4:05 p.m., school administration will follow APS student-safety procedures, which may include contacting APS Police.

Need regular after-school care? Children's Choice, located on the Inez campus, offers after-school
programming until 6:00 p.m. on school days. Enrollment and availability are managed by Children's Choice.
